COVER STORY: Valley’s Leading Regional Magazine Profiles Scenic Hudson Land Campaign
Hudson Valley magazine examines issues regarding development and preservation.
Scenic Hudson President Ned Sullivan is featured in a cover story in the area’s pre-eminent regional magazine. The Hudson Valley magazine article shows our leader in a familiar setting -- head-to-head with developer Martin Ginsburg, whose sprawling waterfront projects have drawn criticism from us. The piece chronicles the early progress of Scenic Hudson’s Quadricentennial initiative to protect the “must save” landscapes along the Hudson and to create family-friendly parks that connect people with the river.
What may surprise you is the revelation that Scenic Hudson’s work is safeguarding the very assets that are making the valley attractive to a new breed of green entrepreneur, including solar manufacturers, attracted to the region’s beauty, parks and quality of life.
The article goes on to list some recent open space victories -- including properties protected as part of our land campaign -- as well some of the latest development proposals. The extensive piece concludes with a critique of good and bad development along the river by Jeff Anzevino, who leads our team of planners. In the same issue, an editorial by Hudson Valley Editor-in-Chief Olivia J. Abel describes immersing herself in nature during an invigorating hour-long hike at our Black Creek Preserve.
