New Amenities Make it Easier for Everyone to Enjoy Beacon's "Hidden Gem"
Second Graders from Beacon’s South Avenue Elementary School helping to open the newly improved Madam Brett Park.Jay BurgessA May 6 ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the completion of new amenities at Scenic Hudson’s popular Madam Brett Park, including extension of the boardwalk along Fishkill Creek and improvements to trails and seating areas to make them accessible to persons with physical challenges. The work was made possible through a federal grant administered by New York State. Following the brief ceremony, Scenic Hudson educators will led Beacon elementary students in a hands-on exploration of the park’s natural habitats. Field trips to Madam Brett Park are an important component of Scenic Hudson’s environmental-education initiative in Beacon schools. "This park is truly a hidden gem," commented Steve Rosenberg, senior vice president of Scenic Hudson. "And now it's even easier than ever for people to enjoy it.
