Scenic Hudson, Inc. and The Scenic Hudson Land Trust, Inc. to apply for accreditation process through Land Trust Accreditation Commission.

Land Trust Accreditation

Scenic Hudson and The Scenic Hudson Land Trust are pleased to announce that they are applying for accreditation through the Land Trust Accreditation Program of the Land Trust Alliance. The Land Trust Accreditation Program recognizes land trusts that meet national quality standards for protecting important natural, agricultural, recreational and cultural lands and resources forever. Becoming an accredited land trust will be an objective affirmation that SH and SHLT meet national standards for excellence, uphold the public trust and ensure that their conservation efforts are permanent. The accreditation process includes an extensive review of each applicant’s policies and programs by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, an independent program of the Land Trust Alliance.

Public Comment Period Open

The Commission invites public input and accepts e-mailed or signed, written comments on pending applications. Scenic Hudson and The Scenic Hudson Land Trust invite you to participate in the accreditation process by submitting a comment to the Commission relating to your experiences working with us on land conservation projects, visiting our parks or participating in SH and SHLT activities relating to the Hudson River and the Hudson River Valley. Comments must relate to how Scenic Hudson and The Scenic Hudson Land Trust comply with national quality standards for land trusts. To learn more about the accreditation program and to submit a comment by e-mail, visit www.landtrustaccreditation.org. Comments may also be faxed or mailed to the Land Trust Accreditation Commission, Attn: Public Comments: (fax) 518-587-3183; (mail) 112 Spring Street, Suite 204, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Comments on SH’s and SHLT’s application will be most useful if received by the Land Trust Accreditation Commission by June 14, 2008. Please note that comments must be submitted to the Land Trust Commission and should not be sent directly to Scenic Hudson or The Scenic Hudson Land Trust.
