Outdoor Educator Receives Award

Susan Hereth (right) accepting her award from NYSOEA President MaryLynne Malone and Tim Stanley of the Fresh Air Fund’s Sharpe Environmental Center.
While our Education Coordinator Susan Hereth stays busy introducing schoolchildren to the marvels of nature in Scenic Hudson parks, she's also active off the job. Her leadership on creating a statewide environmental literacy plan to promote outdoor learning has been acknowledged by a Service Award from the NYS Outdoor Education Association. We salute Susan for advancing awareness of the value of outdoor education and helping young people discover a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors. We're hoping that the ongoing success of Scenic Hudson's campaign to Save the Land That Matters Most will provide Susan's students -- and the rest of us too -- many more natural areas to explore.
