We wrapped up a great week of “7 Minute Clean Ups" along the Fall Kill Creek in Poughkeepsie in late July. It was wonderful to see so many people taking pride in our community—and helping to restore this important Hudson River tributary that runs right through the heart of the city. 36 volunteers joined 23 Scenic Hudson staff members to remove 1,450 Lbs. of trash from the creek, including 17 tires, four shopping cars, six bikes, two computers and a bowling ball! Our thanks to Cornell Cooperative Extension Dutchess County, R.E.A.L. Skills Network, Nubian Directions, Spark Media Project and all the other volunteers who came out to help, and a big shout-out to Mayor Rob Rolison for his “7 minute” vision: people working together to take pride on our surroundings CAN make a big difference in just a small amount of time!
