Get Involved
Whether you have two minutes or two weeks, Scenic Hudson needs your assistance to protect our irreplaceable landscapes, revive riverfront communities, champion sensible development and fight for clean air and water. Here is how to Get Involved.

BECOME A CEMENT PLANT ACTIVIST
Join the Hudson Valley Preservation Coalition and voice your opposition to the massive, polluting, coal-fired cement complex proposed for Columbia County. Send us your e-mail address and you'll receive the coalition's e-newsletter and action alerts, plus a "Stop the Plant" poster to display in your home or office.

SUPPORT RURAL ECONOMIES IN THE HUDSON VALLEY
Give agriculture a much-needed boost and join the Hudson Valley Agricultural Partnership (HVAP). Ask your state legislators to fully fund the $125 million allocated for the Environmental Protection Fund. Update 6/02: The legislature and governor approved $125 million for the EPF in the state's 2004 budget. Thank your legislator for his or her support.

PUT THE BRAKES ON OUT-OF-SCALE DEVELOPMENT
Express your concern about controversial waterfront proposals in your community. Ossining, Peekskill and Poughkeepsie are particularly at risk. Attend a waterfront advisory committee, city or town council, village board or planning board meeting to understand the issues and advocate for community-driven planning.

KEEP THE PCB CLEANUP ON TRACK
Tell U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Christie Whitman and Gov. George E. Pataki that our river has suffered long enough, that cleanup delays are unacceptable and that timely PCB removal is critical. Urge them to help keep the dredging start date on track.
