Avalanche of Cement Opposition; Key Decision Due
Cheers. Applause. High Fives. These and more to the 11,800-plus citizens who wrote the New York Department of State (DOS), telling the agency to stop St. Lawrence Cement's (SLC) proposed plant that would spew toxic pollution on the valley and Northeast. This agency could single-handedly halt the project if it deemed the company's plans inconsistent with state coastal regulations.

Thanks also to allies Friends of Hudson and The Olana Partnership who rallied with us and the Hudson Valley Preservation Coalition to spark public comment by the DOS's deadline.

OUR LEGAL PROS MAKE COMPELLING CASE
Our legal team dismantled, point by point, SLC's claims that its plant would not harm our Hudson River. See our submission to the DOS, scenichudson.org/stcp.htm. This and other vital legal battles are made possible by donations from our supporters.

The DOS is expected to rule by April 22. Scenic Hudson will notify our supporters the minute the decision is announced. Make sure you are signed up for STOP THE PLANT Updates in our Take Action Center, scenichudson.org/takeaction.htm.
Approving a new plant of this size would be illogical and counter-productive since New York is in court trying to reduce emissions from coal-burning Midwest plants. The company's plans are a bad fit for this area.
