RESOLUTION
Endorsement of the Smart Growth Principles of the
Hudson Valley Smart Growth Alliance

WHEREAS, the Hudson Valley Smart Growth Alliance has been formed as a
regional group of diverse interests, including environmental, land
conservation, and economic development organizations, builders, realtors,
design professionals, tourism officials, and planning agencies, who have
come together to build consensus on smart growth principles and promote
local and regional solutions to sprawl; and

WHEREAS, the Hudson Valley Smart Growth Alliance has agreed upon the
attached set of "Smart Growth Principles" to encourage a comprehensive and
balanced approach to future land conservation and development; and

WHEREAS, the Hudson Valley Smart Growth Alliance has asked other groups
and organizations to join the Alliance and promote these "Smart Growth
Principles."

Organize/host a Quarterly Meeting, which includes choosing a topic (with
Working Group approval), securing the speaker, space and refreshments.

Send a representative to the Quarterly Meetings and/or join the Working
Group.

Adopt this resolution agreeing to uphold our 7 Smart Growth Principles.

Sponsor the annual conference with a financial contribution.

Now Therefore Be It Resolved

and promote these general principles whenever appropriate.
