BEACON: Emerging Model of Riverfront Renaissance
Beacon is the ultimate example of how Scenic Hudson's expertise, collaborative approach and donor support can transform a town. Formerly a 25-acre pollution-scarred waterfront, Beacon is currently emerging as a model of riverfront renaissance. |

Next door to Dia:Beacon, Scenic Hudson is partnering with a private developer, The Foss Group, in transforming a contaminated railroad terminal and scrap yard into Long Dock Beacon - a model "green" mixed-use development including a hotel, conference center, retail shops, restaurants, and public pier surrounded by waterfront parkland.
YONKERS: Daring to Imagine a River Uncovered, a Downtown Reborn
Scenic Hudson joined community members to oppose a proposal in the 1980s for six 38-story towers on the Yonkers waterfront. The settlement resulted in a conservation easement on waterfront land granted to Scenic Hudson. Scenic Hudson worked with the Spencer/Amicone administrations and Collins Enterprise to ensure the appropriate scale of buildings, to improve architectural design of façade, to protect important views and to provide waterfront open space. |

| The results of this partnership: Open space and public access to the river are ensured for future generations. Riverfront park and sculpture garden made possible by Scenic Hudson's easement in Yonkers. |
