Citizens want the Pocantico River to be restored
Restoring the Pocantico River’s historic route through the proposed buffer zone between Lighthouse Landing and Kingsland Point Park could:
- Create approximately 1,500 feet of new waterfront for recreational and educational activities.
- Control a serious, persistent flooding problem.
- Restore natural areas and wildlife – perhaps doubling the local population of fish and birds.
- Protect water quality.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation is working with us to determine the best restoration plan.
The Pocantico River should be restored to its original course.
“High-density residential development is threatening to choke the river banks like plaque on an artery.”
