Land Conservation Success Stories

Great victories -- lots more work to do.
We've achieved great victories since launching our campaign to Save the Land That Matters Most last November, preserving 34 percent more acres over the previous year. We're ramping up our acquisitions to achieve our ambitious goal of conserving 65,000 acres of the most important land along the river.
The downturn in the real estate market gives us a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to protect forever these must-save landscapes that meet New York State's highest standards for ecological, scenic and agricultural values. We'll work in collaboration with 16 local land trusts and government agencies to save ridgelines offering iconic views, habitat-rich forests and marshlands that safeguard the quality of our air and water, and farmland that supplies healthy produce. But we need your support to get the job done.
