2008 in Review: Bringing People to the River through Unique Events and Compelling Contests
We held over 70 public events and outings in 2008 that inspired residents and visitors to discover new ways to enjoy the valley.
We held our first-ever "movie night" at Foundry Dock Park this summer.Robert Rodriguez, Jr.
All year long people from all walks of life discovered new ways to enjoy the Hudson Valley at Scenic Hudson events. With choices that included morning hikes up Mount Beacon, pumpkin carving at Foundry Dock Park, birding workshops at RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary, trail runs at Shaupeneak Ridge and poetry readings at Poets' Walk Park, we definitely had something for everyone! Check out our events calendar to see what we have planned for the future.
Our 2008 Photo Competition inspired over 800 photographers to capture the beauty of our region through nearly 2,500 photographs
"Palisades Clouds" by Scenic Hudson member Jack Gilman was the winning entry in our 2008 Photo Competition.
Scenic Hudson's first-ever photo competition was a big success. These inspiring images celebrating the beauty of the Hudson River Valley are permanently archived at scenichudson.org. Visit the winners gallery to see the grand-prize-winning image, along with first-, second- and third- place winners in each of six categories.
