Reed Reports -- December 2007
And the ANSWER is...
Scenic Hudson member Aaron of Hudson correctly identified this photo as being in the RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary in Catskill.
If birds are your bag, then you probably already know about RamsHorn-Livingston Sanctuary, a haven for our feathered friends, big and small. Co-owned with Audubon New York, the 480-acre wonderland in Catskill, Greene County, boasts the Hudson River’s largest tidal swamp, making it a perfect place for migratory waterfowl to catch their breath and pig out between long flights.
The sanctuary offers humans one of the greatest canoeing/kayaking adventures in the region. In addition to a life vest, don’t forget your binoculars. And don’t be surprised if you spot a bald eagle -- these majestic creatures are regularly seen soaring over the swamp.
Congratulations to Aaron of Hudson, who was the first to guess the correct answer. Along with our congratulations, we're sending him an autographed copy of Reed Sparling's new book, Hudson Valley Voyage: Through the Seasons, Through the Years.
