Comms Technology, Tools & Platforms Coordinator

Mission of Position:

The role is responsible for managing the organization’s digital-communications ecosystem, ensuring that the tools and platforms that support its websites, electronic communications, social media, and mobile app platforms work together to engage and inspire our constituents and support Scenic Hudson program priorities. Working with web developers, IT consultants, digital agencies, and software platform providers, the coordinator administers the data strategy for Scenic Hudson’s communications channels and constituent relationship management systems, and oversees workflows and systems for executing that strategy and measuring its effectiveness.

The role supports the Director of Creative Strategies & Communications in the development of strategic solutions at the departmental and organizational level—including strategic planning, campaign conception and execution, and efficient allocation of tactical resources—to achieve specific outcomes aligned with emerging priorities related to the organization’s increased focus on climate and environmental justice issues. The role also delivers strategic and technical support for communications engagement programs and Scenic Hudson’s fundraising programs.

Qualifications:

The individual will have a minimum of 8 years of marketing communications experience, including production of a broad range of digital content such as videos, slide presentations, websites, social media content, and mobile apps. This professional will understand how to coordinate and integrate multiple digital platforms and databases to drive a unified set of outcomes. They will be a sophisticated communicator, up to speed on emerging external communication technologies, including e-advocacy, social media, and mobile apps. This self-starter will have a proven record of leading efforts that increase audience engagement, membership/followers, and business opportunities. Must be comfortable with balancing multiple/converging project deadlines. Proficiency with HTML and CSS. Familiarity with the environmental field is a plus.

WEB PLATFORMS 

  • Oversee the organization’s overall web presence, including scenichudson.org and multiple microsites, to ensure online experiences align with brand strategy and advance program priorities. Current properties include:

  • Outline needs for website improvements and new functionalities that enhance engagement and support strategic goals
  • Work with designers and developers to manage implementation of website upgrades and expansions
  • Proactively ensure content is up-to-date on all website properties
  • Ensure web properties align with DEIA principles and practices, including accessibility and imagery audits. 
  • Provide guidance and support to staff and consultants with respect to tools, systems, and best practices for developing, managing, and posting web-based content
  • Keep current on emerging technologies and nonprofit trends related to Scenic Hudson and its mission

OTHER PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT PLATFORMS

  • Coordinate the integrated application of communications platforms serving external constituents (Mailchimp, Raiser’s Edge, New/Mode, YouTube, SimpleTexting, Sprout Social, Typeform, webinars, YouTube, etc.) 
  • Manage Mailchimp integrations, imports, audiences, tags, and implementation of user journeys in the platform
  • Project manage the development of tools such as digital/mobile-first parks guide with interactive maps
  • Support staff in the effective use of these platforms to drive, measure, and analyze outcomes

INTERNAL TOOLS 

  • Coordinate the integrated application of platforms used internally for managing projects and streamlining workflows (Google Workspace for Nonprofits, Slack, Tandem Vault, Asana, Dropbox, Sprout Social, Zoom, etc.)
  • Help define best practices for efficient and consistent use of these platforms. 
  • Spearhead and maintain a google drive management/shared drive strategy and implementation for the Communications Team
  • Oversee development of a suite of Google Slide templates and presentation processes for interdepartmental use
  • Develop a project-management methodology built around consistent application of tools, processes, documentation, and collaboration

ANALYSIS

  • Develop and manage systems for tracking and measuring performance of websites, email marketing, and social media efforts
  • Generate data-driven recommendations for improvements

STRATEGY AND PLANNING 

  • Develop strategies to expand online audiences and cultivate new constituent relationships and donors from multiple sources (websites, parks kiosks, social media, events, etc.)
  • Integrate departmental strategic-plan (objectives, principles, values) into work plan including:
    • Develop and oversee the technology and platforms process for staff onboarding and departures
    • Work with organization colleagues to explore the feasibility of a CRM solution that allows all databases to talk to each other 
    • Develop a plan for comms functionality, look and feel, and tools for new office headquarters
  • Develop strategies and establish priorities for ongoing expansion of the digital ecosystem through adoption of additional and emerging platforms for communications as well as fundraising efforts (SMS, chatbots, TikTok, Snap, Tripadvisor, Yelp, etc.)

CAMPAIGNS/PROGRAMS 

  • Work with Director of Communications and communications staff to conceive, launch, manage, and evaluate integrated digital campaigns that build the Scenic Hudson brand and drive specific program outcomes, including those related to organization’s expanded focus on climate and environmental justice issues
  • Identify ways digital platforms (presentations, webinars, email marketing, social media, etc.) can be used to support integrated campaign efforts
  • Manage select external consultant relationships and oversee their work across various technical disciplines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Compensation:
Full-time, Salary $80,000-$84,000 with competitive benefits.
