HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y.—In its work to protect and enhance the natural beauty and environmental resources vital to the health of the Hudson Valley, Scenic Hudson has added to the expertise represented by members of its Board of Directors. The organization announces that Dr. Cybele Fishman and Judah S. Kraushaar are the organization’s newest board members.
Dr. Cybele Fishman of Brooklyn and Rhinebeck

Dr. Fishman has appeared on the Today show and The Dr. Oz Show as well as educational videos for Women’s Health and Parents magazine. In addition, she has been featured in a wide range of health, beauty and wellness publications.
Dr. Fishman received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. She completed one year of clinical training in internal medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and three years of dermatology training at New York City’s Albert Einstein School of Medicine, where she served as chief resident. She completed advanced fellowship training in Melanoma and Pigmented Lesions at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. In 2010, she studied integrative medicine at the Continuum Center for Health and Healing, Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Dr. Fishman and her husband, Dr. Jay Rao, live in Brooklyn and have twins. They enjoy spending time hiking in the Hudson Valley when they are at their home in Rhinebeck, Dutchess County.
Scenic Hudson President Ned Sullivan said, “Dr. Cybele Fishman’s strong desire to improve the lives of others, combined with her passion for exploring the Hudson Valley’s natural treasures, will serve Scenic Hudson well as we continue broadening the scope of our work to ensure it benefits all of the region’s citizens. Her medical expertise will help us as we strive to take steps that improve public health in the valley’s downtown communities.”
Judah S. Kraushaar of Chappaqua and Clinton Corners
Judah Kraushaar is Managing Partner of Roaring Brook Capital, L.P., a Long/Short Equity Fund established in 2006. Prior to that, he was First Vice President of Merrill Lynch, where he managed the global financial service’s equity research team and was a top-ranked analyst for more than a decade. In 2006, he authored the bestselling book, The Real Deal, the autobiography of Sandy Weill and a history of the modern financial services business.
Mr. Kraushaar has abiding interests in regenerative farming, locally sourced food and social entrepreneurship. He presently serves on the board of The Glynwood Center in Cold Spring and advises several Israeli social businesses via his past association with The Israel Venture Network based in Herziliya, Israel. He also has served on a variety of boards for organizations involved in advocacy and human relations. He received his BA and MBA from Cornell University.
Mr. Kraushaar, who also has been named to serve on The Scenic Hudson Land Trust board, lives in Chappaqua, Westchester County, with his wife, Michele. They also have owned historic Meadowland Farm in Dutchess County for the past 21 years, a place where emerging livestock and vegetable farmers pursue their passion for growing food and animal husbandry in a highly supportive environment. The couple has three grown children.
“Judah Kraushaar’s broad spectrum of experience, knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit will benefit all aspects of our operations. His deep knowledge of farming, especially the day-to-day challenges facing Hudson Valley farmers, makes him an invaluable addition to Scenic Hudson’s boards as we continue our collaborative efforts to conserve working family farms—the key to growing the region’s agricultural economy and sustaining supplies of fresh food to millions of local and New York City residents,” said Mr. Sullivan.
About Scenic Hudson
Scenic Hudson helps citizens and communities preserve land and farms and create parks where people experience the outdoors and enjoy the Hudson River. We also bring together people, businesses and government to protect the river and natural resources that are the engines of the valley’s local economies. Started in 1963 by a handful of citizens who cherished the simple pleasures of the outdoors along the Hudson, Scenic Hudson is credited with launching the modern grass-roots environmental movement. Today, in the face of new challenges and the effects of climate change, we are dedicated to making the Hudson Valley a great place to live, work and play. Our focus is on strengthening and maximizing benefits all can enjoy from the region’s great assets—beautiful open spaces, working farms, and vibrant cities and town centers.
