SUMMARY:BIOBLITZ at Red Fox Ravine: An Equinox Exploration
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the Spring Equinox by exploring Kingston’s plants and wildlife with local stewards\, scientists\, and neighbors! \nJoin us for a group scavenger hunt — known as a bioblitz — to identify plants\, birds\, pollinators\, and other forms of life. We’ll be scouting out Kingston Land Trust’s Red Fox Ravine\, a forest preserve in the historic Wilbur hamlet overlooking the Rondout Creek. \nWhat to Expect: \n\n\n\nDRESS for an outdoor day: wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes.\nBRING binoculars and a smartphone/tablet if you have them.\n\nPLEASE NOTE: This event is rain or shine (barring extreme weather). Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. \n\n  \nYour observations will contribute to the growing database of biodiversity (the variety of plants and animals) being gathered as part of the Defining Urban Biodiversity study in Kingston\, Newburgh\, and Poughkeepsie. You’ll also learn how to use the iNaturalist app to help you prepare for future community science and Kingston Land Trust stewardship events!
