SUMMARY:Apple Picking Volunteer Night (with a free cider tasting!)
DESCRIPTION:Our 2019 apple crop has several cosmetic blemishes that make many of the apples a little “ugly”. The apples are as crisp and delicious as any farm-fresh apple\, but because of their freckles and scabs\, this sort of “ugly produce” often goes to waste in the field. \nWith your help\, we won’t let any good apples go to waste. We’re still open for regular pick-your-own apple picking\, but this year we will also be donating much of our crop to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley to help feed local families in need. \nTo make this happen\, we need your help! Come by the apple orchard between 3-7pm to help us pick “ugly” apples to donate to the food bank. \nAfter you’ve picked a bushel of apples\, visit the market to use our antique cider press to make a fresh batch of apple cider. Cider pressing starts at 5pm. \nBy visiting our farm and picking our apple crop this year\, you’re taking a small step to reduce food waste – and we appreciate your support. Read more about our apple crop and the impact of “ugly produce” here: https://www.greigfarm.com/blog/our-ugly-apples \n  \nMore info here.
