Block Party Brings Local Eats, Beats, and Smiles to Poughkeepsie’s New Northside Hub

Neighborhood bash welcomes community to transformed space at 58 Parker Avenue.

An abandoned factory near the Walkway Over the Hudson has been reimagined for Scenic Hudson and Poughkeepsie’s Northside community, bringing new life to the once industrial neighborhood.

The new Northside Hub is home to the environmental nonprofit’s sun-powered offices, as well as community gathering spaces that will open next year.

This fall, around 400 people from the neighborhood came together to celebrate the Hub’s arrival at a Community Block Party, which featured delicious local food, farm-fresh produce, DJ beats, lawn games, and nature-inspired art-making.

Check out the grounds, home to native plants — and fun activities from face-painting to game-playing during the party.

See scenes from the pavilion, where local food was served, and people learned more about nature.

Get a glimpse into the building, which currently holds Scenic Hudson’s offices and soon will add community space.
