Crystal Lake Community Farm

Share:

Crystal Lake Community Farm in Newburgh, New York, is a partnership between Merakay Center, the city of Newburgh, and Scenic Hudson.

The garden is situated near Crystal Lake — once a popular swimming spot but virtually abandoned since the 1970s — and adjacent Snake Hill, which offers stunning views of the city, river and the Hudson Highlands.

We had hoped to work with local community members to grow food for local soup kitchens and food pantries this season. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were unable to welcome volunteers or visitors the garden, so we thought we’d bring you occasional video updates.

Currently, Mayor Torrance Harvey’s Summer Youth Employment Program and Boys & Girls Club of Newburgh are working with us (masked and socially distant) to harvest the fresh produce and deliver healthy vegetables to local families. It’s been a pleasure to work alongside of them.

Welcome to Crystal Lake Farm
