Explorando Carreras Ecológicas: SUSIE XIMÉNEZ, Community Outreach Director

Las estadísticas son impresionantes: para el año 2030, más de 24 millones de trabajos pueden ser creado globalmente por la economía verde, según La Organización Internacional de Labor. ¿Qué son algunos tipos de estos trabajos y que hacen estas personas?

La Voz y www.scenichudson.org’s HV Viewfinder visualizan un futuro sustentable e inclusivo para el Valle de Hudson, así que hicimos un equipo para aprender sobre carreras ecológicas a través de cuatro personas locales que tienen unos roles interesantes. Estos líderes no solamente se sienten desafiados, pero también dicen que están contribuyendo a revitalizar el área para hoy y mañana.

¿Qué haces? Trabajo para Citizens for Local Power (Cuidadanos por Poder Local), una organización sin fines de lucro basado del Condado de Ulster que tiene la misión a ayudar a las comunidades en la región de Mid-Hudson hacer una transición a energía local y limpia.

¿Cuáles son las actividades que haces diariamente para tu trabajo? Mi enfoque principal ha sido trabajar en el Caso de Precios de Central Hudson y el Perdón de Deudas de las Empresas de Servicios Públicos por todo el estado, y también la Acta de Asequibilidad de Energía. 

¿Como haces un impacto con tu trabajo? Pido justicia lenguaje de Empresas de Servicios Públicos y más transparencia en la información presentada a la Comunidad Latino en los problemas como energía verde. Covid ha afectado fuertemente a muchas de nuestras comunidades y residentes, y muchas personas están aterrorizados de recibir una noticia final de la terminación y tener sus servicios apagados. Tenemos que buscar soluciones alternativas a estos problemas como invertir en Agregación de Elección Comunitaria.

¿Qué puede hacer alguien que tiene interés en esta carrera? Saber que hay espacio para ti. A veces me sentía como que no me pertenecía a estos espacios. Tarde mucho en darme cuenta de que como una mujer de color trabajando en esta industria y tener la experiencia de crecer aquí en el Valle de Hudson como inmigrante indocumentada, yo ofrezco una perspectiva única en mi trabajo.
