Stephen joined Scenic Hudson as an advocacy attorney in 2022 and moved to the director role in 2024. He leads environmental advocacy and policy work focused on the Hudson River, renewable energy siting, environmental protection, and land conservation. In addition to policy and legal advocacy, his team engages in lobbying, coalition building, and legal representation in administrative proceedings.

Previously, Stephen was a staff attorney at a Pennsylvania-based environmental nonprofit. He has also worked on political campaigns, at a plaintiff-side law firm, and as a law clerk in the Northern District of New York. 

Stephen earned a B.A. in Political Science from Reed College and a J.D. from New York University School of Law. He lives in West Hurley, N.Y.
