Mario Johnson

Scenic Hudson Board Secretary

Mario is currently the Director of Upward Bound at Marist College. Previously he served as Community Schools Administrator for the Poughkeepsie City School District. He is the former City of Poughkeepsie 5th Ward Alderman (Councilman), Vice-Mayor, and a former 10th District Dutchess County Legislator for the City of Poughkeepsie, serving eight years in total as an elected official. He served as the Governmental Affairs Administrator (NYS registered lobbyist) for the Builders Association for the Hudson Valley and as an adjunct graduate instructor for Marist College teaching Introduction to Public Administration and Public Budgeting & Finance. He has also taught classes at Dutchess Community College in history, government, and economics. He is a graduate of SUNY Oswego and has a master’s in Public Administration from Marist College and a second master’s in Management & Urban Policy from The New School in New York City. He has served on numerous boards including YMCA, Habitat for Humanity, Dutchess County United Way, Hudson River Housing, City of Poughkeepsie Census Committee, Poughkeepsie Partnership, DC Community Action Partnership, Family Partnership Center, and the Dutchess County HIV/AIDS Planning Council. He currently serves as Board Treasurer for the Poughkeepsie Alliance.
