Scenic Hudson Board Member
Michael has worked on conservation and environmental issues for more than thirty years, spending his professional life at the intersection of natural resource business, policy, conservation, and finance. In his nonprofit board career, Michael is a director of Colorado Open Lands; past board chair of the national Land Trust Alliance, where he led successful efforts to develop, fund, and implement a transformative strategic plan; former chair of the Colorado Oil & Gas Conservation Commission, where he helped create one of the nation’s most advanced regulatory frameworks for oil and natural gas development; a founder and former chair of the Colorado Conservation Trust; and former chair of the Colorado Wildlife Federation. He has also had leadership roles with the boards of the Colorado Symphony and Colorado Public Radio. Earlier in his career, Michael worked as an energy and environmental consultant, as a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, and as an executive and private investment manager with General Atlantic Resources. Michael has a BS in Earth and Planetary Sciences from Yale College and master’s degrees from the Yale School of Management and the Yale School of the Environment. Michael has New York City roots and grew up in southern Connecticut. He now lives in Denver and Manhattan. Michael is a former arborist and river guide and is inspired in his conservation work by sharing his love of nature with his teenage daughter, Theresa.
