Kaaterskill Falls

Haines Falls (Greene County)

Why we love it

The tallest two-tier waterfall in New York — making a total drop of 260 feet — Kaaterskill Falls is a unique, gorgeous and extremely popular natural attraction. Recent enhancements to connect the falls’ lower and upper tiers via new trails and staircases make visiting an even better and safer experience. A new viewing platform also allows hikers to ogle the falls from a vantage point not previously accessible. And an extensive trail system connects Kaaterskill Falls with other nearby natural destinations, including Inspiration Point and its magnificent views of Kaaterskill Clove.

More to explore

The North-South Lake campground, just up the road from the upper Kaaterskill Falls trailhead, features swimming, boat rentals, campsites and picnic pavilions. The trail system around the lakes includes an awesome 7-mile loop to North Point that features many superb views.
