HUDSON VALLEY, N.Y.-Helping out and being outdoors feels great. At an upcoming Saturday event, Scenic Hudson will share information about how people can lend a hand in keeping the group’s Hudson Valley public parks healthy and inviting-for people and wildlife. Those who attend also can learn about options for class or group field trips, hands-on workdays and collaborative events. Scenic Hudson parks are along 125 miles of the Hudson River.
To help welcome Spanish-speaking residents to be part of the event and Scenic Hudson’s ongoing programs, a Spanish interpreter will join the Learn & Serve Open House.
The volunteering options are numerous. Help maintain parks and trails. Join creekside cleanups. Build a community garden. Preserve and improve wildlife habitats. Be part of a citizen science program that captures important information on the health of the Hudson River. For those seeking to more effectively advocate to protect the Hudson River and natural resources that make the Hudson Valley special, come meet and gain tips from Scenic Hudson advocacy professionals.
Investigate how Scenic Hudson parks can be excellent “outdoor classrooms” for students and other groups.

In addition, other Newburgh community groups will be on hand to share volunteering opportunities with their organizations. The groups include Orange County Land Trust, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh, Newburgh Urban Farm and Food Initiative, and Safe Harbors of the Hudson.
