Amy Kacala

Executive Director, Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail

Amy Kacala oversees design, construction and operations of the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail, the new world-class linear park along the banks of the Hudson River. She manages a robust team of consultants and a 20-member project coalition, advances the land and legal agreements needed to bring the project to fruition, and works to establish and manage the new non-profit and its growing staff.

Amy joined Scenic Hudson in 2014 as the Senior Community Planner. In this position, she led the Hudson Highlands Fjord Trail, which she grew into its present form, several initiatives in Westchester County and the organization’s work in Newburgh and Poughkeepsie. Prior to joining Scenic Hudson, she was a senior planner with a regional planning agency in Massachusetts and an associate with a Colorado-based planning and zoning firm. She has a Master’s in Regional and Urban Planning from the University at Buffalo and a B.A. in Political Science from Union College.

In her free time, Amy enjoys hiking, running, kayaking, gardening, cooking and keeping her Labrador puppy out of trouble. She also coordinates an informal group of planners from the five-county Mid-Hudson region for book club and field trip events.
