The Hub: Where Community & Innovation Meet

The Hub:
Where Community & Innovation Meet

The Northside Hub (lovingly referred to as “The Hub”) is a former factory reimagined as innovative community spaces and offices for our environmental nonprofit. Running on the sun, it is an inspiring place to bring people together.

About the Hub

It’s been quite the journey to get here!

For much of the 20th century, 58 Parker Avenue was home to the Standard Gage factory,  a center of innovation and jobs in Poughkeepsie. The factory turned out precision measurement tools for the Army and Navy during World War II and received an award for excellence from President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Just after the turn of the century, the factory closed its doors and left behind a contaminated brownfield. It was abandoned for two decades before we decided to step in, cleaning up and restoring this piece of local history.

Unveiled in 2025, the Northside Hub is now home to our staff offices and light-filled spaces for the local community and visitors to learn, grow, play, create, and celebrate together. It’s just steps away from the popular Walkway Over the Hudson pedestrian bridge and the Northside Line rail trail — two former railway spans that we helped transform for the public.

“The Hub” runs entirely on the sun with every detail grounded in sustainable design, aligned with our vision for a beautiful and healthy Hudson Valley.

In the heart of Poughkeepsie, The Hub is located at 58 Parker Avenue just down the street from the Walkway Over the Hudson.

Two parking lots may be available for events at The Hub depending on the day/time, offering a maximum of 83 total parking spaces:

  • The “solar canopy lot” across the street from the Hub contains 54 parking spaces, including four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. For convenience, we encourage event guests with EVs to download/install the EV Connect Mobile app. It will be on your left before the building if you are coming from the Walkway side/Washington Street and on your right from if you are coming from North Hamilton Street.
  • The parking lot directly adjacent to The Hub contains 29 parking spaces. This parking lot will be on your right if you are coming from Washington Street and on your left if you are coming from North Hamilton street.

We’re collaborating with neighbors and partners to create tools that support and strengthen Northside neighborhoods. Learn more
