Elevating knowledge, data, and innovation to support evidence-based decision-making across the Hudson Valley.

Defending the Hudson Valley
Everything we do is grounded in science.Â
From conserving land and designing parks, to advocating for climate-forward, sustainable policies and practices, science helps us decide what to prioritize and how to most effectively reach our goals.Â
It’s also an engine of innovation. We’re exploring how to best care for the ecosystems that make the Hudson Valley so unique and developing tools to analyze and share data that help communities make informed decisions and learn more about this place they call home.Â
Here at Scenic Hudson, we’re lucky to be guided by our team of in-house experts in collaboration with networks of scientists across the Hudson Valley and beyond.
Together, we’re working to advance critical work such as:
- Revitalizing Hudson Valley forests by opening up the canopy, protecting native plants, and pinpointing priority areas for conservation
- Managing the surging populations of deer that threaten our forests, the wildlife that depend on them, and even us
- Bridging community and science to better understand the plants and animals that live in cities — just one of many innovative research partnershipsÂ
- Bringing scientific knowledge to the fore to help decision-makers make choices that support public health and protect habitats and natural resources
Science shows us how deeply interconnected we all are with the landscapes around us. When we protect wetlands, for example, we’re not only safeguarding sensitive, vibrant ecosystems, but we’re also ensuring housing is not placed in areas where people will have to suffer with flooding down the road.Â
