This May, the River Center at Long Dock Park in Beacon opens its doors to a new multimedia exhibition. Presented by Soon is Now, a Beacon-based climate and eco-themed arts organization, the “Museum of Fishes & Greens” explores how climate change is reshaping food, community, and culture in the Sundarbans — a delta in India where environmental shifts are a daily reality for communities.

 

Upcoming Workshops:

Saturday, May 30, 1 – 5 p.m. ROOTS & RESIST: Traditional Batik wth Natural Dyes with textile artists Drishti Jaggi and Disha Dhadiwal. Participants will learn the fundamentals of batik, explore natural dye processes, and create their own unique textile pieces. Accompanied by Bengali savory snacks prepared with local greens and chai presented by Aditi Goswami of Calcutta Kitchens, Kingston, NY. Registration required, limited to 20 participants.

Saturday, June 6, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Natural Paper Making workshop using local plants with artist Michele Brody Michele will demonstrate the stages involved in gathering local plants for regeneration into handmade paper, introducing participants to her practice as an environmental artist, making paper from locally gathered invasive plant species such as mugwort, paper mulberry, and phragmites.
Registration required, limited to 15 participants.
