Beattie-Powers Place

Catskill (Greene County)

Why we love it

A great family sledding adventure — one that will please children as well as parents — requires a long hill and something to keep adults occupied while standing around in the cold. The slope behind this historic mansion fits the bill perfectly. It offers fast but not scary rides, so even toddlers will have a ball. (They’ll be less enchanted with the trek back to the top.) Moms and Dads who can resist the urge to race their kids have magnificent views of the Hudson River and Olana to savor.

More to explore

Catskill’s Main Street offers a variety of dining options for securing post-sledding sustenance and warming up.
