Drayton Grant Park at Burger Hill

Rhinebeck (Dutchess County)

Why we love it

Have you ever had a partial view of a beautiful sunset through the trees, and wished you had a vantage point to see the whole thing? If so, this is the spot for you! For a half-mile stroll up Burger Hill, you’ll be rewarded with sweeping views across the Hudson River to the Catskill Mountains beyond. Stone benches on the 550-foot crest provide information about the peaks you’re peering at, but you may be too busy checking out the sunset to notice. FYI, this is also one of the valley’s GREAT sledding destinations.

More to explore

Nearby Rhinebeck features many interesting stores, inviting restaurants and even a cool movie theater (Upstate Films). The fire tower at Ferncliff Forest is another local destination for superb views.

  • Trail runs through a wildlife-filled meadow, with expanding views as you climb
