Muscoot Farm

Katonah (Westchester County)

Why we love it

Getting close to baby cows, pigs, chickens, goats and sheep — that’s reason enough for children to like Muscoot Farm. But a visit also offers a chance to teach young people about the history of farming, especially important in suburban Westchester, where agriculture has all but vanished. Now a county park, Muscoot features restored barns and other original buildings from the dairy farm that operated here from 1880 to 1967, as well as 777 acres of fields, woods and wetlands. A variety of regular events include “Morning Farm Chores,” where kids are put to work feeding the livestock and collecting eggs.

More to explore

The farm features more than 6 miles of trails for viewing wildlife.
