Why we love it

Though right off the Taconic State Parkway, Lake Taghkanic feels far from the madding crowd. Its wide, sandy beach offers a great place to spread a blanket and work on your suntan, while the lake’s calm and crystal-clear water is perfect for doing laps or just taking a dunk. A snack bar will cure the munchies, and showers assure you’ll be spic and span for the ride home. If you tire of being lazy, take a walk or bike ride on eight miles of surrounding trails, or test your mettle against the lake’s fish.

Campsites, cabins and cottages are available for rental. They include shower facilities and a coin laundry. The cabins/cottages contain kitchens and running water.
