Why we love it

The real “wonder” of this 1,100-acre park is that you’ll have it pretty much to yourself — though not far from Interstate 84, it remains a true hidden gem. A number of trails lead through the rugged, mostly wooded terrain. Wherever you roam by foot or ski, be sure to reach the gorgeous, secluded lake, especially picturesque when the surrounding mountain laurel blooms. Lawn-like areas fronting the lake offer prime picnic locations; while munching, keep your eyes peeled for playful otters and other wildlife. FYI, this land once belonged to Bewitched actress Elizabeth Montgomery.
